Blown Away

A new Nuggleton on the easel, 'Blown Away' and I am already enjoying getting back to Harbour Road, which I love.

'Moonlight' is finished and just waiting to be varnished and a couple of pieces of glitter dropped in for stars and then it can go to the framers.

A year ago I could never have imagined that my artwork would be the centrepiece of someone's Christmas wall, this photo sent to me by a client ends my first year for Nuggleton on a high note.

Thank you to everyone who has read my blogs, supported and followed me.  Nuggleton Art wishes each and every one of you a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

See you all in 2014!

Moonlight

I wasn't happy with the moon so I have altered it and I think it is much better now.  I want to put more shadows on the street and a fox and tweak a couple of other details and then I think it is pretty much finished, not bad for my first attempt at this medium and I definitely want to do more.

Retro Car is SOLD

Retro Car has now been sold through Cobra Frames in Southport and I am dead chuffed that it has finally found a home.

This is a new piece in oils that I am working on and I am really pleased with how it is progressing.  I will still be doing Nuggleton watercolours, but this is another avenue I can explore and enjoy!

New Work

This is some new work that I am learning the techniques for, it isn't finished yet but I am hoping that these acrylic and oil paintings will run alongside Nuggleton to add another avenue and outlet for ideas I have.

Fifties Theme

My fifties themed painting is so much fun to do and I love the story that is unfolding with each little section.

I think this young girl has an admirer!

Walking Day

I am digging out some old work to finish off and I had forgotten about this one.  'Walking Day' just needs a few people finishing off and the trees, so maybe this one will finally get added to the For Sale list.

Two original paintings will be winging their way to Italy today, which is a great boost to say I have sold internationally....wow, I would never have thought it a year ago!

Teddy Boys

The Nuggleton Teddy Boys are in town and having a pint at The Barge Inn.  Those factory girls making their way down Viaduct Road towards town will be blushing as they pass these handsome chappies.

Other news:
Two original paintings have been sold to a lady in Italy, so Nuggleton is going International now.  'Estuary' is going to be displayed for sale at The Acorn Gallery from the 15th November.  Christmas cards are now on sale at www.nuggletonart.co.uk and as usual, these are a one off design for 2013 for those of you collecting them.

Rocky Shore

In between doing Nuggleton paintings, I am trying my hand at more acrylic work.  I am quite happy with the end result of this one and I used a FrameBuilder app on my mini ipad for the frame effect.

Right, back to the fifties painting.  I am putting a red telephone box in today, a must for a picture from that era.

Turn up the music and watch a short video of some of my early work and a few new pieces, nice and relaxing and a trip down memory lane :)

Estuary

I am working on a painting that is a mixture of Yorkshire and Nuggleton, haha.  It is beginning to build up now and I am really enjoying it.

I visited the framers today to drop off the Canine Chaos prints and I have chosen a burnished copper frame for Estuary with a slip frame instead of a mount, as I want this to have extra special bling when it is finally finished.  The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington are going to take this painting, which is only right, as it belongs in Yorkshire.

Little Red Austin Mini

The little red Austin Mini from my new 50's era painting is looking good and I am quite pleased with it.  I am enjoying researching the fashion and the classic cars that will feature in this current painting.  Head over to the Nuggleton facebook page for more images.

Danny Abrahams

I have become good friends with the wonderful artist Danny Abrahams in the last few months, we are pictured here at The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington with 'Riverside' in front of Danny's work.  He is taking the art world by storm but is still finding time to mentor me in new techniques.  If you ever get chance to view his work at an exhibition, then go along because you won't be disappointed.

Dave and I are now the proud owners of two of Danny's originals and we love them to bits.

Canine Chaos

Back from the Cotswolds and bursting with inspiration from all the little villages, it has also helped me map out in my mind exactly how the follow up to 'Riverside' will look now.

I will be finishing 'Canine Chaos' today and then it will go to the printers to have a print run set up to be sold through GallerySales.  'Estuary' will be worked on whenever I am at my art club and I have started an acrylic canvas of Nuggleton at Dusk which is a fun sideline whilst waiting for other paintings to dry.

'Cricketers' is now available as a limited edition print from The Acorn Gallery and also as a greeting card from www.nuggletonart.co.uk

Nuggleton Goes Down Under

I had an absolutely wonderful visit to The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington, Yorkshire.  I had arranged to meet up with my favourite artist, Danny Abrahams who is taking the art world by storm.  The Riverside print we are holding up in front of his work has been sold to an art gallery owner in New South Wales, Australia.  Nuggleton down under, what next?

Nuggleton Tea Party at The Acorn Gallery

The original of this painting has been received and approved by the new owners and this is Poet Lenny, who appears in my work, receiving his limited edition print.

I have done an extensive interview for the Southport Visitor today about my ABNA exhibition in St Ives and this weekend coming up is the Nuggleton Tea Party at The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington, Yorkshire.  If anyone can make it along from noon till 2pm, there are mini cupcakes and tea and coffee and a chance to view some of my work.  My top artist friend Daniel Abrahams, who is taking the art world by storm, is a huge Nuggleton fan and will be at The Acorn Gallery with me to join in the fun and present some of his fabulous work.

A Colourful Exhibition

So proud to be an artist taking part in this exhibition and my paintings will be collected tomorrow and then delivered to Cornwall on Saturday.  My first year as a semi-professional artist and I could never have imagined this twelve months ago.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me and followed my blogs and facebook, it is very much appreciated and means so much to me.

Tuesday, 23 July 2013

I have taken a short break from Nuggleton to complete a commission, an acrylic on a very large canvas.  I really enjoyed the challenge and will definitely be painting more of these inbetween doing my Nuggleton work as I loved the freedom of working with large brushes for a change.

Cricketers

'Cricketers' is finally finished and will be with the framer today ready to be mounted and framed, then it will be on its way to its new owners in Yorkshire.

After struggling with the people as I am still new to doing them so close up, I am actually quite happy with the end result.

Wednesday, 10 July 2013

Riverside

Riverside is finished and off to the printers today, but I have decided not to put the final picture on until the new owners have received it, as it would be nice for them to be first at seeing everything in it and also to enjoy surprises that have been added.

Limited edition prints are available to pre-order from The Acorn Gallery:

http://www.theacorngallery.co.uk/a1-gallery3.asp?roomID=5653&pictureID=51752

I will be finishing 'Cricketers' this week and then I am working on a piece called 'Dog Show' which will include dogs emailed from fans, friends and family.  What fun!

Riverside

This painting has already been SOLD and is isn't even half finished, three limited edition prints have also been sold, you have to move very quickly these days to own a Nuggleton picture, ha ha.

This has now become a commission, allowing the new owners to choose details that have a meaning to them and they have very kindly said that I can share these with you and still go ahead and display this at my ABNA St Ives Exhibition.  I hope you take pleasure, as I am doing, from seeing the things they have chosen appear alongside my own vision for this painting.

Riverside

Another painting SOLD before it is finished and the first limited edition print is also SOLD.  You have to move VERY fast now to own a Nuggleton painting.

The new owner has kindly given permission for this to be displayed at the ABNA St Ives Exhibition, so plenty of people will get to see it over the two weeks in August before it wings it way to a new home.

Friday, 14 June 2013

It's Saturday, the original, has now sold through Gallery One, Lord Street, Southport but limited edition Giclee prints are still available from The Acorn Gallery, Pocklington and GallerySales.co.uk

Over 40 Nuggleton By The Sea greeting cards were sold over the promotion weekend at the annual Trinity Art Exhibition.  I met some really lovely people and received some touching comments and encouragements.

Vespa Scooter

It's not quite the TT races, but it's the ideal way to get round Nuggleton....meet Scooter Girl!

A River Runs Through It

I am really enjoying getting back to Nuggleton villages and this painting "A River Runs Through It", is my largest painting to date.  My mind is buzzing with people to put in, new details on the houses, and where the cars and buses are going to go.

Marine Lake..aka Nuggleton meets Southport painting is at the framers and will go to its new home at Gallery One, Lord Street at the end of the week.

I have a table at Trinity Church, Houghton Street, Southport on Sunday 9th June between 12 noon and 5pm, selling greeting cards, postcards and fridge magnets and generally promoting Nuggleton if anyone wants to pop in to say hi.

Monday, 27 May 2013

Nuggleton Meets Southport

It still seems very strange to be doing a painting other than pure Nuggleton from my imagination, but this was requested by Gallery One on Lord Street, Southport for visitors to recognise a landmark so this was something that worked with the Nuggleton houses.

When it is finished this week I will carry on with finishing some other recent work, I want to do another monochrome as The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington have taken 'Bankfield Road' below, which is now mounted and framed.

I am going to do a re-make of my original Nuggleton By The Sea Hilltop Cafe, but it will be Castle On The Hill and then have the village below with more people.  I can see a huge improvement in my work when I compare Hilltop Cafe with my recent paintings, but it will always have a special place in my heart.

A lady at my art club is taking a writers course and wants to do a children's book so it is possible that we will work together and she will write a story around my paintings as I don't seem to have time for that side.  All exciting for the future of Nuggleton.

I will be at Trinity Art Exhibition, Houghton Street, Southport on Sunday 9th June selling Nuggleton greeting cards between 12.30pm and 4pm, so if anyone is in the area, please drop in and say hi.

Monday, 13 May 2013

Barnfield Road

Much as I adore doing Nuggleton, I also like to push the boundaries by trying something new and I had an urge to try a monochrome picture.  This isn't finished yet, but I think I am going to call it 49 1/2 shades of grey!

Tuesday, 7 May 2013

I am so sorry that I have neglecting you all here on my blog, I have been multitasking like mad.  I have been taken on by a gallery on Lord Street in Southport and as well as taking Nuggleton paintings, they have asked for a new direction with some Southport buildings.....and this is my first attempt at one called 'Walking Day'.

I am moving my pictures around the three galleries I am with to keep interest fresh and will be collecting two that are earmarked for the two week exhibition in St Ives.

Next month I have a stall at the Trinity Art Exhibition in Southport, selling limited edition mini prints/greeting cards of most of my new work and if anyone would like further details, then please email me at nuggletonart@gmail.com

'Walking Day' has been a real challenge but I have enjoyed it even if I am out of my comfort zone.  I have one more painting that I am dying to tackle and then I will return to my dear Nuggleton and my imagination once more.

Progress on 'It's Saturday'

This painting is taking longer than usual as it is so packed with details and there are some new features for me, a weather vane, the footballers, ice cream van, policeman etc.   I am really enjoying bringing this village to life and I have just ordered some larger Bockingford paper to do a big painting, which I will have to work on in between the smaller Nuggleton pictures which I need for galleries and exhibitions.

It's Saturday

This painting has been re-named from Street Football to 'It's Saturday' as there is a street market, football, washing out, a yacht race and lots of traffic, people and will be busy, busy.

I will try to keep remembering to put progress pictures on so that you can see how it develops.

Junior Marching Band

Junior Marching Band is mounted and framed and ready for its journey to The Acorn Gallery tomorrow, along with Street Football.  They will be on display for two months so it will be interesting to see what reaction there will be from the viewing public.

Afterwards, they will be on sale at either Gallery Sales or the exhibition at St Ives in Cornwall in August.

I am enjoying every moment of this exciting journey and I would never have believed this would all happen when I first started this blog.

Where are we going next Nuggleton fans?

ABNA Website

http://www.britishnaives.co.uk/artists_k_r.html

My work is now available to view on the ABNA website, but putting my paintings aside...there is some fantastic, colourful, fun and extremely talented work to enjoy on this website.  Take a visit and you won't be disappointed.

As you can see, Marching Band is progressing along nicely and should be finished soon.  I have such a busy week ahead but I really want to get this done in time to take with me on Friday, when I am taking Street Football to The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington for display there.

Really Exciting News

I have some amazing news....I have just heard that I have been accepted as a member of the ABNA, the Association of British Naive Artists after a panel of judges voted unanimously for my work. This means I will now take part in a two week exhibition in August in Cornwall where collectors of naive art come from around the country and from abroad to view the paintings. I am so pleased, proud and excited and I hope you will all continue on this wonderful journey with me.

Rugby Scrum is Finished

This is 'Rugby Scrum' finished and winging its way to GallerySales.com

This has been a real challenge for me as I am still new to doing people and fine detail but I think my style has come a long way from 'Hilltop Cafe' and gradually my new work will replace the old, but I hope it will still keep the heart of Nuggleton By The Sea with the humour and of course Mitsy and Dusty....just in case I ever get to write that book!

Rugby Scrum

I am doing four paintings at once to try and meet the demand at the moment.  This is one earmarked for Gallery Sales called 'Rugby Scrum'...as I know nothing about Rugby it is an interesting challenge.  My other three are called 'Maypole Dancers', '5-A-Side Football' and 'Marching Band' and I will post progress on them as soon as possible.

I have taken 'Street Football' to Cobra Frames to be mounted and framed ready for its journey to The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington on 5th April.

Street Football is Finished

Street Football painting is finished and will be mounted and framed and then available for sale in The Acorn Gallery, Pocklington, Yorkshire from the 5th April.  All my work is still available to buy as prints or originals at GallerySales.com but this is a small diversion to see what the interest will be when my work is actually on display on a gallery wall.  As there is so much detail, you don't get to see it all unless you are up close and even then I have been told that you can come back to the picture time and again and still see something new.

The next painting is either going to be a marching band or a rugby scrum....not much difference, ha ha!

Street Football Nearly Finished

This painting should be finished on Thursday and Friday and then it is going to be mounted and framed and taken over to The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington, Yorkshire where it will be displayed for a couple of months, giving people a chance in that area to actually view my work with all its detail up close rather than just through the internet.

I am still with Gallery Sales in Leicester, but I have been given the chance to spread my wings so this is the start of another new adventure for Nuggleton.  Most of you have been on the journey with me from the very beginning, well...we have miles to go before we sleep!

Lots of Fun Today

I had great fun with this update of Street Football on facebook today, I asked people to vote on the gender of the driver who has knocked the 'Nuggleton Welcomes Careful Drivers' sign down.  I promised that I would paint the winning answer as the driver and so far it is a male, open voting until tomorrow if you want to go to Nuggleton Art on facebook and comment.

It is beginning to come together and with more people and more kids playing football, I think it will look ok.  I have enjoyed doing this painting.

Street Football Progress

The painting is beginning to come to life now and Dusty cat has appeared on a fence, I knew she wouldn't miss out on any action.  I wonder who the caravan belongs to?  I like the variety of trees and the walls and fences, I am loving working on this picture.

Sunday, 24 February 2013

Street Football

Sorry that the photo is a bit dark, but the journery begins for 'Street Football' with boys and tomboys playing in the foreground, surrounded by houses, trees, walls, fences, gates, a postbox and a telephone box (watch here for a childhood memory that this generation will never see).  I hope you enjoy following the progress!

Wedding Day Hand Embellished Print Now Available

It's finally finished and available to order as a wedding gift or special anniversary present.  If you do order (details below) then please give Gallery Sales as much information about the wedding as possible and I will do my best to incorporate all the details.  The personalisation will be added to a Giclee print which is top quality archival paper which won't fade within 70 years.  The details that can be added bar any special requests are:
1)  The couples names on the banner from the plane and the A board where the reception is being held in the picture.
2) The time of the wedding on the clock of the church.
3) The bride and grooms hair colour.
4) The bridesmaids hair colour and the colour of their dresses.
5) The town where the wedding is being held.

For orders please ring Gallery Sales on 01455 208852/07887361305 or email gallerysales@live.com

Thank you so much for being on another Nuggleton journery with me and for your ongoing support.

Hand Embellished Wedding Day Print

Gradually, Wedding Day is filling out nicely and taking character.  So much small detail to add to bring it totally to life, people , cars, bunting, keeping the areas to be personalised blank to fill in after the Giclee print has been done.  Giclee is a beautiful paper which will have a white border round the painting, it is archival quality so it won't fade within 70 years.  The colours are crisp and bright after printing and then I add the names, colours and any other personalisation to make it special for the bride and groom who will receive the gift.  Gallery Sales are dealing with all orders and I will do the hand embellishment once I have received all the details.  I love this picture and I hope the little village tells a lovely story of a traditional wedding day.

Morris Dancers is Sold!

I shall have to paint quicker as I am pleased to announce that 'Morris Dancers' has sold within 24 hours!

A very emotional time, thank you for being on this incredible journey with me.  Next painting?  Maypole Dancers.....

Sunday, 17 February 2013

Wedding Day Hand Embellished Prints

Well, it has been a very busy and exciting time in Nuggleton land.  Brass Band painting has sold and there is a lot of interest in Morris Dancers and the above Wedding Day, which is beginning to come to life.  The hand embellishments which will be done on top quality Giclee prints include the name of the bride and groom on the banner of the plane, the time of the wedding on the church clock, the hair colour of the bride and groom, the colour of the bridesmaid dresses, the name of the town on a 'Welcome to....' sign and an A board at the reception at the pub across the road which will have the couples names on.....phew!  An unusual present but so nice that the day is encaptured in a painting telling a little story.

Pre-orders are being taken at GallerySales.com, telephone 01455 208852 or 07887361305 and ask for Mark, who is lovely and can answer any other queries regarding prints or paintings relating to Nuggleton.

I am starting a May Day painting with dancers round a maypole to work on when parts of Wedding Day are drying, so many ideas...so little time.

Thank you for still being on the journey with me, haven't we come a long way?  Nuggleton is growing in popularity and the greatest pleasure comes from sharing it with you all :)

Morris Dancers Update & Newspaper Showcase

Still a long way to go but I am really happy with the way it is developing, just another few thousand bricks to add and the spectators to finish and then the boats and some seagulls need adding.

A great showcase for my work and a link to Gallery Sales, thank you Nicola at the Midweek Visiter for all her help and for giving me this opportunity to share Nuggleton.
